Day 1: It’s always a warm welcome when you show up to the lodge. A killer dinner awaits, smiles from the staff and high fives from good friends is typically followed up with a cold beer, nail-littered stump and a chipping hammer for a traditional game of neglin.
After a heavy trip no matter when you originate from your bed is calling you and so too is the pow from high up in the hills. With a lower than desired snow year and some heavy heat spells we weren’t sure what to expect… But true to our annual lucky streak, March again proves to be a damn good month to come to Retallack. We picked up 15cms overnight and headed up in the Orage cat piloted by the one and only, Karl the Gnarl.
Beyond mid range the snow is super light and deep so we remained up high for the majority of our day to get warmed up. After we wrapped up our avy safety course it was off to the races. Pillow lines and pow abound we seemed poised for another epic trip to Retallack.
Charley Ager, Banks Gilberti, Tatum Monod and lodge first timer Andrew Whiteford are ready to get to work.
